New Years upcycling

Jan Feb issue INSIDE out magazine
With my cold and general feeling very flat health wise I took to my old past time of sitting drinking lots of tea and coffee, Wattling old dvds and reading magazines. I resorted to buying paper copies of some old regulars - I have culled my mag spending considerably in recent years - no space to store them - but I must admit I do have a lot of digitals!  Truly though there is nothing like the feel of the papers and clicking a mouse doesn't feel the same as you turn the pages...

...anyway, the subscription cards from them always go in the recycling bin, unless there's a lovely picture on it, and it goes in Miss 3's craft box, but today I spied a lovely papercouture idea (visit the link - fantastic ideas!  love the jacket!) in the INSIDEout magazine and adapted it for a starry fireworks idea for New Years!  A quick cut, fold and stitch and one is done!  I'll knock up some more and see how it looks.

This idea can be adapted further - think of falling stars - with streamers out the end, hearts for Valentines, use old birthday cards, egg shapes for Easter, any lovely paper just because you can...it goes on! Quick flash for no cash...love it!  Miss 3 might like to do this these holidays on her little machine!

fold and snip the shape

I used about five

pop them inside each other to make a stack

a quick long machine stitch through them all
carefully unfold to separate, and maybe linger over 007 peeping out at you!
use the long machine thread you left on it to hang!  ...pretty!
